I have always loved clay. Growing up on a South Texas Farm, my siblings and I would dig up clay in the backyard and make “mudpies”. I’m not sure what my parents did with all of those lovely sculptures that we thought were so wonderful! I discovered throwing while studying for a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. It was in my last semester that I decided to take a ceramics class and became mesmerized by the potter’s wheel. Since then, I have taught ceramics to all ages and all abilities and have shown my work in a variety of places. My work tends to be whimsical and funky, leaning mostly towards the functional.
